Bollywood’s resident “Fashionista”- the gorgeous Sonam Kapoor- put up an exciting display of innovative new trends this past year and continuously wowed us with her stylish and glamorous looks! We saw lots of monotone looks, red and white outfits, jackets, power suits and lots of unconventional saree looks that mixed traditional elements with contemporary draping styles. We’ve compiled a list of running trends that Sonam Kapoor has kept alive in the past year with her sartorial choices so let’s go ahead and take a look!
1. Jackets with kurtas
We know that Sonam loves her jackets and capes! She’s managed to pair jackets with all sorts of ethnic wear- kurtas, anarkalis, sarees, you name it- and came out looking extremely chic and polished. Not just Sonam, but a host of other celebs have also stepped out flaunting this style in 2020.
2. Unconventional saree looks
We saw a variety of draping styles from Sonam Kapoor in the past year. From a simple double shoulder drape at Armaan Jain’s wedding reception to a heavily embroidered Anamika Khanna ethnic jacket thrown over a white saree for an event; she looked breathtakingly beautiful in every look.
One of our favorite looks was a daisy printed ivory organza saree by Masaba Gupta which looked spectacular on her. She also managed to pull off a red biker jacket blouse paired with a matching red saree with equal poise and grace. Her brick red plain silk saree by Anavila paired with a matching sheer long cape jacket is worth mentioning too!
3. Red monotone outfits
Sonam chose to wear a lot of red outfits the past few months and we’re absolutely loving it! Red is often a color that people shy away from and we can’t help but wonder why. Red is bold but red is also beautiful.
Well it seems Sonam Kapoor definitely doesn’t mind when experimenting with hard hitting vibrant hues. That’s something we should all take inspiration from!
4. Statement sleeves
Statement sleeves were a big hit in 2020; almost every celebrity donned at least a few outfits with large puffy or frilly sleeves. The bigger the sleeves, the better! Be it Sonam’s black ‘sari gown’ at the 2019 Glamour and Style Awards or her various printed saree looks, puffed up sleeves are definitely in right now.
5. Blazers
Wide shouldered blazers are the ultimate power suits for women. Throw on a blazer over wide legged pants, a feminine skirt or even on a kurta like Sonam Kapoor. Play around with light pastel colors or have fun with your prints! Blazers will never let you down. And you’re sure to leave everyone awestruck with your high class voguish looks!
